Behavior and Design Intent Based Product Modeling

چکیده
A knowledge based modeling of mechanical products is presented for industrial CAD/CAM systems. An active model is proposed that comprise knowledge from modeling procedures, generic part models and engineers. Present day models of mechanical systems do not contain data about the background of human decisions. This situation motivated the authors at their investigations on exchange design intent information between engineers. Their concept was extending of product models to be capable of description of design intent information. Several human-computer and human-human communication issues were considered. The complex communication problem has been divided into four sub-problems, namely communication of human intent source with the computer system, representation of human intent, exchange of intent data between modeling procedures and communication of the represented intent with humans. Paper discusses the scenario of intelligent modeling based engineering. Then key concepts for the application of computational intelligence in computer model based engineering systems are detailed including knowledge driven models as well as areas of their application. Next, behavior based models with intelligent content involving specifications and knowledge for the design processes are emphasized and an active part modeling is proposed and possibilities for its application are outlined. Finally, design intent supported intelligent modeling is discussed.

Some Possibilities for Integrated Intelligent Object based Engineering Modeling
The authors propose a product modeling where active model entities are organized in purposefully configured, highly integrated model objects featured by arbitrary and developing complexity and mutual adaptivity with their environment. Behaviors initiate adaptive actions as reaction for changes inside and outside of a model object. Object in this concept is associative with all related objects, ...

This paper is concerned with the evaluation of effects of modeled object changes at development of product in virtual space. Modeling of engineering objects such as elements and structures of products, results of analyses and tests, processes for production, and customer services has reached the level where sophisticated descriptions and modeling procedures serve lifecycle management of product...
متن کاملHuman Intent Representation in Knowledge Intensive Product Model
Success in engineering activities mostly depends on success in transfer of human intent into product. Recently, product development applies product model as medium to describe product information in product data base. While modeling gives a great chance for the description of engineer’s intent, current information based product models are not capable of this description. Human intent remains in...
متن کاملExplicit Communication of Geometric Design Intent in Cad: Evaluating Annotated Models in the Context of Reusability
CAD model reusability is largely determined by a proper communication of design intent, which is usually expressed implicitly within the model. Recent studies have suggested the use of 3D annotations as a method to embed design information in the model’s geometry and make part of the design knowledge explicitly available. In this paper, we evaluate the effectiveness of this method and analyze i...
